i have successfully wrapped Subvein to mac.. although its not an official release, it works just as well!

Its fully functional, played online with no lag. It even played Refuge! No problems.

I want to minimize the game and multitask! How!?
To get out of fullscreen press Command+Option+A
It should minimize the game

My game is running slow!
Try closing unneeded or cpu hogging apps!
For some disabling vsync will give you a performance boost.
Turn off all anti aliasing

This is really thoughtful of you. You say you do this often? That's really nice of you.

I scanned it, nothing harmful as far as I could tell. Waiting to see it in use though; how you port a game that is not even open-source is beyond me.

Bence is going to love this!

if you want to see it in use i guess i could record a video? as i said i can use teamviewer to show you, as the only way any of you would be able to know if it is what i say it is.. is for a mac user to try it out.

games do not need to be open source for porting.. the steps and process is relatively simple!

i guess most do not know about it, or know how.. but alas.. here i am. with a working port .. just finished playing on a server with some guy.. fun stuff

Alas, I'm a Windows user myself and don't know anyone who has a Mac, but this is great! It'd be nice to see a video of it in action too though.

Btw if anyone wonders why it takes so long to join a game in the video, its because at the moment he was joining Rag's server, the map Refuge was being played. And Refuge is a HUGE map that takes a very long time to load.

was playing with rag and some qwerty guy all night... but ontop of that lag because of the recording thing i was using.. i also paused in the middle when i got a skype message.. was important.. but. yes. thanks.

Hm, that's quite interesting. What I don't understand is how you ported it? If you could give a brief explanation or run down that would be great. We've talked to the dev about a mac port before, and I'm quite sure he was waiting until full release before doing it because of difficulty or time consuming. Either way, you have our thanks

Regarding future updates, do you plan on staying or is this just a temporary visit? Not to be cynical but as soon as the game gets updated once the port will be obsolete right? It doesn't seem like you're going to be around to update your mac port, so I don't think it will be put to much use as it is. If you are willing to update your mac port I might be able to muster up something in return for you because having mac users would be absolutely splendid.

i do plan on sticking around... i will visit periodically, as in.. 'look an interesting thread ill post for a bit' . like you said, if and when it does get updated i will just port again. I am aware he probably was waiting for a more balanced, better subvein. But for me why wait???

Although i am using a mac i have 2 computers (Xp and Vista Based) filled with plenty of games so i hope that wasnt directed at me, my mac is used for school and everything else. didnt buy it worrying bout gaming, i got better things to do


As for the porting...

Usually WineSkin is the simplest, open up winery.. then click install windows exe. locate it whereever you hvae it downloaded and your pretty much on your way .. but you may, and most of the time get errors you will have to fix by editing a plst file or using the wineskin winery tool that comes with WineSkin(i like editing the plst files, easier for me, and you can put more commands easier) Wineskin works down to 10.5 leopard - 10.6 Snow leopard.

The CXZ / CXS / CXEx Wrappers are more stable but require additional stuff to be installed, that can make some people discouraged or confused on what to do.. but they came out with CXex thats suppose to be like wineskin but better!! havnt tried it out yet but when i find something to port i will try it!! CXZ and CXS etc etc also work down to Tiger 10.4 - 10.6!!

Cider you can fnd in torrent form.. which will usually just be a drag and drop thing. witch is really if a windows user wants to TRY and port a game.

... you can find guides for these on youtube.. etc etc.. quick google search will help you

oh and yea, have to admit, crappy loading time is my fault... Nothing to do with his "MAC OS build". It took a lot of time for Subvein to calucate lighting on my map while loading so yea, his build is working great! If it loaded such complicated map as bx_Refuge then it will load any other map as noone's buisness! Great job, indeed.

ps: Refuge testing went really geewwwd this time . Glad that everyone likes this map even though it takes so much time to load.
