 Post subject: Any advice on free video recorders and uploading to Youtube?

A little while ago I Googled "free video recorders" hoping so find something like fraps but free and without a crappy trial period (last time i saw it, it had it) and I came across CamStudio (http://camstudio.org/) and I was wondering if it is any good. All I am after is something to record the screen, not edit or encode it necessarily.

Also what settings should videos have when you are uploading to YouTube for best quality and stuff because when i upload they don't look or sound any good and take a fair while to load.

I use FRAPS.

As for youtube settings, not entirely sure. There are lots of guides out there, but youtube keeps changing it's encoding so some of them are a bit outdated. If anyone has any tips please share, cause I need to make the v0.6 youtube video soon.

I use Camtasia since not only lets you record your screen but you can edit your recording in Cam Studio.
As for the codec I am not sure most of the time I upload .avis.
